Ok. Been a while. Had a vacation. It was good. Back to creative work. Focusing on saxophone stuff, including my own playing and technique. Working on a series of “vignettes” for alto sax and piano that feature improvisation, some unaccompanied pieces and a whopping technique book.
The Vancouver Jazz Festival started a couple days ago and today was the first day I checked it out, attending the outdoor concerts downtown. The main interests for me were the two quartets led by sax players. The first was Ben Henriques (http://www.benhenriques.ca) and the second was Eli Bennett (http://elibennett.com). I won’t say much about them except that they were great and I look forward to picking up their albums.
I’m going to the World Saxophone Congress in Strasbourg, France!!! Event dates are July 9th to the 14th.
